Following on from our friends over at Trademate Sports, who wrote the seri 10 People Who Got Rich From Sports Betting, we thought we would gabung in on the fun and add another five names to the daftar!

Last but not least, we’ve made it to number five on the daftar, and this man is regarded by many as the best sports bettor throughout history! This is mostly due to his exceptional NFL betting skills.

We’re of course talking about the legend himself, Steve Fezzik. Steve is the only individu in the world that has won the Las Vegas Hilton SuperContest twice, which for those who don’t know is regarded as the World Seri of Sports Betting.

He has been fiturd in numerous big newspapers, and also had a role in the movie “Life On The Line” where he (spoiler alert) was called the best bettor in the world.

Let’s break down who he is and why he’s so good.

His Earlier Days

Steve Fezzik has always been a very unique and special guy. Despite the fact that he’s a huge math geek, he’s also a massive extrovert. Other than that he was a master candidate in chess and graduated from Northwestern University as a statistician.

All this is what secured him the job as Vice President for Transamerica Asset Manajemen.

Steve did a brilliant job as Vice President, mostly because of his ability to solve mathematical equations quickly.

But Steve liked sports betting from an early age and would travel every akhir pekan to bet on football in Nevada, and by the late 1990s he actually made more per hour doing sports betting than what he did with his reguler job! He enjoyed it a lot more as well, making it one of the easiest equations he ever had to make.

He quit as Vice President for Transamerica Asset Manajemen and decided to pursue a life as a full-time sports bettor.

As well as being one of the best sports bettors there is, he’s actually a brilliant blackjack player as well!

His best result at the table being a 3rd place finis in a games called “Blackjack Ball”, which is an annual competition for the best blackjack players in the world.

His model of betting

For very obvious reasons, Steve won’t give away all of his sports betting tactics, however, he is known for being what we would call a”Nilai Bettor”.

His model involves lots of mathematical techniques, data, stats, probability and so on.

Another tactic of his is to take lots of catatan on the opening and closing lines in game. He often waits until right before a football games begins, and if the line has moved remarkably from one side to another, he normally bets on the opposite side!

This is because he knows bookmakers do this as they like to balance their books.

Steve doesn’t just do pre-game betting though, he has also dabbled in the world of live betting, where he has found a few edges.

First of all, he states that we all need to watch the games in standar definition, this is an important rule when doing live betting as the HD feed is delayed with anywhere from 5-7 seconds!

Secondly, he likes to first look at the betting line of the keseluruhan games skor, and then start looking at the differences between each quarter etc.

Thirdly, and a strategy which he is really good at, is to spot small and minor differences in a games which will let him exploit the bookies. He won’t tell us what kind of errors that might be as that’s something you’ll have to work out yourself.

As a final panduan from one of the best sports bettors to ever live, Steve states that it’s so much better to spend a lot of time analysing 4-5 tims which you and learn every little detil about, than it is to look at all 32 tims in the NFL.

His betting statistics

Steve Fezzik has his own sports tipster web called stevefezzik.com, where you can buy akses to either his MLB or NFL panduan. He also talks week in and out on his own podcast called “Even Money: NFL Gambling”.

Steve’s rencana at first was to make a lot of money on sports betting, but not so much that the bookmakers would start to take notice of him. As you might understand by now, this rencana of his didn’t work out for too long.

In the early 2000s, after just a couple of years doing sports betting he had made close to a million dollars, and this is before he won the Las Vegas Hilton SuperContest in 2008!

This made him a known face for almost every bookie out there, especially when he won it the next year again.

Steve is a guy that doesn’t brag about how much money he has made through sports betting, but you can safely say that he’s made a lot of money from it!

    1. Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder, The Man Who Introduced Sports Betting to The US

Following on from our friends over at Trademate Sports, who wrote the seri 10 People Who Got Rich From Sports Betting, we thought we would gabung in on the fun and add another five names to the daftar!

To kick things off in our seri of 5 People Who Got Rich From Sports Betting, we’re talking all about Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder.

Born in 1919, Jimmy The Greek lived one hell of a life until his passing in 1996. A pionireer in the sports betting industry, especially in the U.S.

But it was not an easy ride to fame for Snyder, who endured one of the worst childhoods you could imagine.

Not your standar upbringing

At the meagre age of 10, Jimmy experienced something no child should. His uncle went on a murderous rampage, killing his wife and Jimmy’s mother, before momentually killing himself.

A shocking pengalaman for a child, prompting Jimmy to move in with his Greek relatives for a few years, before returning home to America at the age of 13.

Not long after, Snyder made his first ever bet at a local candy and cigar toko, which would turn out to be the first of many!

Snyder fell in love with sports and gambling growing up, following all the sporting moments going on, whilst compiling a kisaran of sports data.

He also worked as a runner for some local bookmakers, don’t ask us how that was legal!

Winning $160k on the 1948 election

“The Greek” ended up dropping out of school at 16, with his entire konsentrasi set on becoming a full-time sports bettor.

He bet on just about everything to begin with, but momentually he decided to specialise in tim sports, more prominently, American Football. For those of you who are football penggemar, here is how Jimmy broke down the analytical side of the games midway through the 20th century.

“Overall tim speed is the biggest faktor. Then the front four on defence. Then the back defence, especially the cornerbacks. Then the quarterbacks, and then I have to consider the intangibles,” he said.

He may have known a thing or two about sports betting, however, his breakthrough bet came during the 1948 election, when he placed $10,000 on Harry Truman to beat Thomas Dewey in the Presidential election.

At 17.0 in odds, this was one hell of a win for Snyder and a juicy keuntungan of $160,000! Which back in those days was a lot of money.

The best part about that bet was his reasoning for placing it. Dewey had a crooked moustache, and according to his sister, women were suspicious of men with moustaches, so why not put $10,000 on it!

Becoming a pionireer in the American gambling industry

With help of his big pay-day, Jimmy moved to the mecca of sports betting in America, yes you guessed it, Las Vegas!

Here he began selling odds, before earning himself a reguler gig at the Las Vegas Sun, where he would write sports betting columns.

Soon after, his columns were being published in over 200 newspapers around the U.S., gaining a reputation as a brilliant handicapper and leading to his biggest breakthrough!

In 1976, he joined the major Sunday afternoon show, The NFL Today on CBS, where he would release his predictions for the day’s upcoming game.

During these years, the average American Football fan had barely any knowledge when it came to betting, so Snyder became somewhat of an educator to the American public.

Peringkats on the show soared, giving Jimmy The Greek huge notoriety and establishing himself as a leading football analyst.

Racism ruined his career

Snyder appeared on The NFL Today for a whopping 12 years, but that came to a screeching halt after an interviu with Ed Hotaling, a worker for a Washington TV station.

Here is the quote that landed him in some serious hot water when talking about the physical prowess of black American athletes.

“During the slave period, the slave owner would breed his big black with his big woman so that he could have a big black kid — that’s where it all started,” he said.

A day after his interviu was aired, Jimmy The Greek was fired from CBS, but to his kredit, he did acknowledge soon after that it was a foolish thing to say.

One month later, Jimmy experienced the first of many health problems, suffering a heart attack.

Over the next few years he went through just about every health masalah you could imagine, namely diabetes, shingles and a high blood pressure.

Snyder momentually passed away in April 1996, at the age of 76.

2. Marco D’Angelo, The Man Who Wrote Handicap History

Following on from our friends over at Trademate Sports, who wrote the seri 10 People Who Got Rich From Sports Betting, we thought we would gabung in on the fun and add another five names to the daftar!

Last week we kicked things off with a pionireer in the sports betting industry, Jimmy “The Greek” Snyder. But from one pionireer to another, this week we’ll talk about Marco D’Angelo.

He is the owner of his own web called pregame.com, as well as having a daily podcast where he breaks down one games every day for free, the podcast is called “The Betting First Look Show”.

HIS EARLY LIFE

Marco D’Angelo has been in the profesional sports betting business for over 40 years, and in the 10th grade at school he was already giving presentations about handicapping in horse racing!

When D’Angelo reached the age of 17, he had already made over $5,000 from betting with $50 bills only. You could safely say that that boy had a good sense of betting from an early age.

He kept betting throughout the years, before moving from a small town outside of Pittsburgh to Las Vegas at the age of 50, mostly due to the fact that Vegas had no restriction regarding Sports Betting, compared to other parts of the country.

The job he took when in Vegas however, did not have a good reputation, and had been akised several times for corruption. D’Angelo said it took him over a handful of years to realise what kind of corruption was going on.

One of his clients in that old job however, states that D’Angelo always has been one of the good gaes in gambling, also saying that D’Angelo made him over $10,000 during one football season.

D’Angelo now lives just off the strip with his second wife, after his first wife tragically died from a heart attack shortly after they moved to Vegas.

HIS WAY OF BETTING

Marco D’Angelo specialises in handicap betting, but it is not a normal handicap betting strategy. D’Angelo has a strategy that combines something called idiosyncrasies with squad information.

What that means in reality, well, you can hear from the man himself:

“You can’t just look at the stats. You have to look at the human. Humans, after all, are the ones who create stats.”

To put that in an example, let’s say the key player of a tim is injured and can’t play. You would have thought that tim would be in masalah, right? But not D’Angelo, he says:

Another example of his idiosyncrasies betting is in-play betting. For example, just by observing that an American Football tim is running with the ball more than they normally do, he can state that the quarterback is having an off day, even if he’s in the games or not!

HIS RESULTS

Considering only 1% of sports bettors are keuntunganable in the long-run, lets take a look at how good D’Angelo really is!

His web launched in August, 2014, and after his first College Football season it is rumoured that the free bets he offered on that site had a 61% hit rate!

But the man himself says he hits between 57-58% of the time, giving him a great edge, and that it has caused thousands of sports bettors to follow him.

The most impressive thing about D’Angelo is his record during the 2010 Baseball season when he made handicap history. During this season it was well-documented that he won 25 Baseball game in a row!

Even more impressive is that he never laid more than a -120 handicap on either of the tims during this streak. He also always seems to get a positive streak regarding college football, which apparently is his speciality. He has gone 26-12 in the last 38 game.
